Of all the islands in the Canarian archipelago, Lanzarote has the most surprises in store for visitors. It is the most easterly island in the Canaries and a large part of its surface area is volcanic which creates some stunning landscapes and lends itself to the name the "Island of the Volcanoes".

The geological formation of the island has created different kinds of beaches with sand types that vary depending on their location. There are wild beaches with fine white sand, like those at Papagayo, and there are beaches with fine toasted golden sand as well as beaches with black sand where the grains of sand are bigger which is typical of areas with more recent volcanic activity.

The climate is another of the island´s main draws as the average year-round temperature is 22°. On Lanzarote there´s no such thing as extreme temperatures as the lowest temperature rarely dips below 13° and the mercury seldom reaches more than 30°. Rainfall is scarce and it will normally only rain in the winter months as it is almost unheard of between May and October.

Lanzarote is home to many hidden gems, among them the legacies of César Manrique, Lanzarote´s most internationally renowned artist. He was a great defender of environmental values and this is reflected in the unique network of Lanzarote´s Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism.

Lanzarote´s beaches, gastronomy, climate, friendly locals, and the feeling of relaxation which permeates the air all combine to make your holiday unforgettable.
